These hand carved wooden mixing spoons have been finished in a coat of Danish oil which is food safe and protects the wood from absorbing too many stains and aids water repellence. As with all wooden items, these spoons will get better with use and the first few times you use one you might find it feels a bit rough after washing, simply burnish it by rubbing the back of a metal teaspoon over the rough part and that should help. After a few uses and washes the spoon should be nice and smooth again for the duration of its life.
